In the sport of endurance riding, proper nutrition is extremely important for the horse.  I am available for private consultations with you on your nutritional program for your horse.  My experience includes over 20 years of feeding successful endurance horses, as well as formal education in equine nutrition from Dr. Eleanor Kellon, VMD, including classes in Basic Nutrition, Nutrition as Therapy, and Nutrition for the Performance Horse.  Dr. Kellon is also available for private consultations, and I highly recommend her classes to any horse owner.  Her website is:
Before feeding supplements to your horse, it's important to know exactly what the horse is getting from it's hay and other feed (beet pulp, grain, rice bran, etc.) The horse vitamin/mineral supplement companies do a great job of marketing, and getting us to believe that our horse needs their product.  Only through knowledge of what the horse needs, based on NRC requirements, and analyzing any gaps in your feeding program, can you really do the best job for your horse.  And you'll probably save money, too.
Hi Naomi,
I just wanted to update you on Ruffy's progress this summer. Well with your consulting advice and with you analyzing her hay and  diet , switching things around and just feeding a few minerals instead of those expensive vitamins she has went from being a pasture potatoe  because of her tie ups to competeing again and winning THREE Best Condition awards this year alone.  It has been an unbelievable come back for us, if anyone ever has any questions about your consulting please don't hesitate to have them contact me . Thank you so much for giving me back my mare.

A great resource for learning about Equine Supplements and Nutraceuticals is a book recently written by Dr. Eleanor Kellon (2008), in cooperation with the Horse Journal.  I've added an Amazon link for this excellent book, which I highly recommend for any horse owner.
